Iran Ridicules Oil Price Surge, Targets Trump Administration Over ‘Misleading Advice’

By: The Trek News Desk

Amid a sharp rise in global crude oil prices, Iran has responded with strong criticism of the United States and the Trump administration, accusing them of promoting misguided economic and security narratives.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, took to social media to mock senior US officials, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. He alleged that certain members of the Trump administration have been pushing a “blockade theory” that has contributed to oil prices rising above $120 per barrel.

In his post, Ghalibaf also suggested that prices could continue climbing, joking that the next target could be $140 per barrel.

He further dismissed earlier warnings from US President Donald Trump, who had suggested that Iran’s oil infrastructure could face major incidents within days due to supply pressures. Ghalibaf claimed that despite three days passing, no oil wells had been affected.

Taking a sharper tone, the Iranian speaker said that if the US claims were accurate, Iran could allow the situation to continue longer, adding that it could even be extended to 30 days and publicly livestreamed to counter Washington’s assertions.

The remarks add another layer of verbal escalation to already strained US-Iran relations, as volatility in global oil markets continues to intensify.
