Authorities carried out a nationwide mock drill on Saturday as part of preparations for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination. The exercise was aimed at assessing the readiness of examination centres and ensuring seamless coordination among the agencies responsible for conducting one of India’s largest entrance tests.
Officials stated that the mock drill was designed to evaluate security arrangements, administrative procedures, and emergency response mechanisms ahead of the examination. The initiative is part of broader efforts to ensure a smooth, fair, and transparent testing process for candidates.
Security protocols have been significantly strengthened in the lead-up to the re-exam. Authorities have also increased security at the headquarters of the National Testing Agency (NTA) in New Delhi, which is overseeing the conduct of the examination.
The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination is scheduled to take place on June 21 from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM in the traditional pen-and-paper format. Examination centres have been established in 551 cities across India, along with 14 international locations.

More than 2.279 million candidates are expected to participate in the examination, making it one of the largest academic assessments in the country.
During the mock drill, officials reviewed various operational aspects, including candidate management systems, security checks, logistical arrangements, and contingency plans. Coordination among local administrations, law enforcement agencies, and examination authorities was also tested to identify and address any potential challenges.
Authorities said comprehensive measures have been put in place to prevent irregularities and ensure a hassle-free experience for candidates. Final preparations, including deployment of security personnel, surveillance systems, and centre-level management arrangements, are being completed ahead of the examination day.
Officials believe that the nationwide rehearsal will help identify possible gaps in the system and strengthen preparedness, ensuring the re-examination is conducted efficiently and without disruption.
