Senior leader and former Rajya Sabha MP K.C. Tyagi stepped down from the Janata Dal (United) on Tuesday. Sources indicate that he may soon join another political party and shift his focus to active politics in Uttar Pradesh.
Tyagi had been associated with JD(U) since 2003, following the merger of the Samata Party and the Janata Dal. Over the years, he held several key positions within the party, including national general secretary, chief spokesperson, and political advisor.
Speaking about his decision, Tyagi clarified that he has chosen not to renew his party membership. He expressed deep respect for Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar, stating that their association spans nearly five decades and will continue despite his exit from the party.
Tyagi also made it clear that he is now exploring fresh political opportunities in Uttar Pradesh under the banner of a different party. However, he did not disclose the name of the party he plans to join.

In his statement, Tyagi emphasised that his commitment to the welfare of farmers, marginalised communities, and underprivileged sections of society remains unchanged. He reiterated that his political ideology continues to guide his decisions.
According to sources, Tyagi is expected to announce his next political move at a meeting scheduled to be held in New Delhi on March 22.
Political observers believe that his shift could influence the evolving political dynamics in Uttar Pradesh in the coming months.
