Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended a warm farewell to Members of Parliament retiring from the Rajya Sabha upon completion of their terms, appreciating their valuable contributions to parliamentary proceedings.

Addressing the House, the Prime Minister acknowledged that each member had played a significant role in deliberations on a wide range of issues. He emphasised that the collective efforts of the members have strengthened democratic discussions in the Upper House.

As per details, a total of 59 MPs from 20 states are retiring this term. Elections for these seats were conducted on March 16.

During his speech, PM Modi reflected on the journey of parliamentary life, noting that it brings both rewarding and challenging experiences. He highlighted that moments like these transcend political differences, bringing leaders together to bid a respectful farewell to their colleagues.

He further remarked that while some members may return to the House in the future, others will move on to take up new responsibilities. “In politics, there is never a full stop; it is a continuous journey,” he said.

The farewell occasion was marked by an emotional atmosphere in the House, with leaders across party lines recalling the contributions of the retiring MPs and extending their best wishes for the future.
