On the sixth day of the Parliament Monsoon Session, the Central government is set to introduce the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, in the Lok Sabha on Monday, July 27, 2026. The proposed legislation aims to curb incidents of paper leaks in competitive examinations and introduce stricter measures against those involved in such offences.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh will table the bill in the Lok Sabha. The amendment includes stringent penal provisions to deal with cases related to examination fraud, paper leaks, and the use of unfair practices during public examinations.
According to the listed agenda of the Lok Sabha, after introducing the bill, Jitendra Singh may also move a proposal for its consideration and passage in the House.
Meanwhile, parties belonging to the opposition INDIA bloc are preparing to demand an urgent discussion in Parliament over the alleged use of excessive force against students protesting the NEET paper leak issue.
Opposition leaders have argued that the action taken against protesting students requires a detailed debate in the House, and the government should provide clarification on the matter.
To chalk out a strategy for the ongoing Monsoon Session, leaders of opposition parties from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will hold a meeting at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Parliament complex.
During the meeting, opposition parties are expected to discuss key issues they plan to raise in Parliament and formulate a coordinated approach to challenge the government on various matters during the session.
