A horrifying case has emerged from Bengaluru, Karnataka, where a 27-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her boyfriend by tying him up, blindfolding him, and setting him on fire inside her home.
Police said the accused, identified as Prerna, worked at the same telecom store as the victim, 27-year-old Kiran. The two had been in a relationship for about a year, but recent tensions had strained their bond. Prerna allegedly believed that Kiran had been ignoring her and was avoiding marriage.
According to investigators, Prerna called Kiran to her residence in Anjanapura, South Bengaluru, on Tuesday when she was alone at home. After a brief conversation, she allegedly restrained him to a chair, covered his eyes, and even recorded parts of the incident on her mobile phone.
Officials stated that when Kiran objected, Prerna reportedly described the act as a “new style of proposal” inspired by foreign trends. She then allegedly used a flammable liquid to set him on fire.
Kiran died due to severe burn injuries, police confirmed. The accused has been taken into custody, and initial findings suggest the incident was triggered by escalating emotional conflict between the couple.
Authorities said the accused has been taken into custody following questioning. “Preliminary findings indicate that the act was carried out after a personal dispute within their relationship,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police D. L. Nagesh.
The case has shocked residents and triggered a wider police investigation into the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
