US President Donald Trump has announced that the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been extended for an additional three weeks. The decision was reached during a high-level meeting at the White House, attended by representatives from both Israel and Lebanon, along with Trump himself.

In a post on social media, Trump described the meeting as “very successful” and stated that the United States would work closely with Lebanon to strengthen its ability to defend itself against Hezbollah. He further confirmed that the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been extended by three weeks.

Trump also suggested the possibility of a future meeting in the United States between Israel’s Prime Minister and Lebanon’s President.

The ceasefire initially came into effect on April 16 and was originally set for 10 days. It was introduced to reduce escalating hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, a group widely regarded as being backed by Iran, which remains an important factor in the broader regional tensions.

However, the agreement has remained fragile, with both sides repeatedly accusing each other of violations. In the latest development, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching rockets toward Israel, stating that the attack was in response to alleged Israeli breaches of the ceasefire.

According to reports, the ongoing conflict since early March has resulted in around 2,500 deaths in Lebanon. Israel has also maintained control over a narrow strip in southern Lebanon, which it will use to build illegal Israeli Settlements.
