A major accident occurred in Mumbai’s Mulund area on Saturday afternoon after a section of a pillar from an under-construction metro project suddenly collapsed, crushing an autorickshaw passing below. According to preliminary reports, three to four people are feared injured in the incident.
Officials from the fire brigade stated that the mishap took place around 12:20 p.m. on the busy LBS Road in northeast Mumbai, near the Johnson & Johnson factory. A concrete slab from a pillar of the ongoing Metro Line 4 project reportedly gave way and fell directly onto the road.
Eyewitnesses said the heavy slab landed on an autorickshaw, completely damaging the three-wheeler. Emergency response teams, including fire brigade personnel, police officers, and representatives of the metro construction company, rushed to the spot soon after the collapse and initiated rescue and relief operations.
Authorities are currently working to assist the injured and secure the area. Officials have confirmed that an investigation will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the structural failure.
