Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has conveyed a conciliatory message to the people of the United States through a public letter, stating that Iran bears no hostility toward ordinary Americans. He emphasised that Iranian society has long maintained a clear distinction between governments and the citizens they represent.
In his message, Pezeshkian noted that the Iranian people do not view citizens of the United States, Europe, or neighbouring nations as adversaries. He highlighted that despite a history marked by external pressure and foreign interventions, Iran has consistently avoided directing animosity toward ordinary people. According to him, this perspective is deeply rooted in the nation’s cultural and social values rather than being a temporary political position.
The Iranian President argued that depicting Iran as a global threat does not align with historical facts or current realities. He suggested that such narratives are often shaped by the political and economic interests of powerful nations.
Pezeshkian further alleged that the image of an “enemy” is sometimes deliberately constructed to justify geopolitical pressure, maintain military dominance, boost defence industries, and secure control over key markets. He added that in situations where a real threat does not exist, one is often created.
