A tragic incident from Dehradun has left a family and local community grieving after a 23-year-old student, known for her academic excellence and dedication to medical studies, was found dead at her residence. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the case.
The deceased has been identified as Riya Kumari Thapa, the daughter of a Kargil War veteran. According to preliminary information, family members became concerned when she did not respond for an unusually long period on Tuesday. The matter was subsequently reported to the police, who began an inquiry into the incident.
Riya was regarded as an outstanding student and had secured 97 per cent marks in Class 12, emerging as one of the top performers in her school. She aspired to pursue a career in medicine and had been preparing for an upcoming medical entrance examination.
Police officials said she had previously appeared for the medical entrance test and was working towards another attempt in hopes of achieving her goal.
Investigators have confirmed that a note was recovered during the inquiry. According to officials, the message expressed affection toward her family and did not hold anyone else responsible. Authorities are examining the document as part of the ongoing investigation.
Senior police officers stated that initial findings suggest academic pressure and emotional stress may have been contributing factors. However, officials emphasised that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly reviewed before any conclusions are drawn.
