A surprise inspection conducted by senior police officials has sparked major administrative action in Meerut after alleged negligence and poor duty management were discovered at a women’s police station. Following the findings, authorities ordered the transfer of 19 women police personnel posted at the station.
According to reports, Avinash Pandey, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Meerut, made an unannounced visit to the women’s police station during an early-morning patrol on Sunday. During the inspection, he reportedly found that the station was not staffed as expected, raising concerns about operational preparedness.
Sources indicate that only one woman police officer was present at the station at the time of the inspection. The officer was allegedly found resting while on duty, prompting concerns about vigilance and supervision at the facility.
While reviewing the station’s functioning, the SSP reportedly took a key record register with him before leaving the premises without informing the staff about the document’s removal.
The situation escalated later when the SSP’s office requested the same register. Police personnel at the station began searching for the document, unaware that it had already been taken during the inspection.
The missing register triggered confusion and concern among the staff. To determine what had happened, officials reviewed CCTV footage installed at the station. The recordings eventually revealed that the SSP himself had collected the register during his visit.

Although the footage resolved the mystery of the missing document, it also highlighted shortcomings in station monitoring and internal communication.
Following a review of the incident, senior police authorities initiated disciplinary measures and transferred 19 women police personnel from the station. Officials reportedly viewed the lack of alertness and accountability as a serious concern, particularly at a police station that handles sensitive cases involving women.
The action is being seen as an effort to reinforce discipline and ensure that personnel remain vigilant while on duty.
The incident has prompted discussions within the police department regarding staffing levels, supervision during night shifts, and overall operational efficiency. Authorities are expected to conduct further internal assessments to strengthen monitoring systems and prevent similar incidents in the future.
Police officials believe the action sends a clear message that negligence and lapses in duty will not be tolerated. The case is also being viewed as part of a broader initiative to improve accountability and maintain higher standards of policing across the district.
