India delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat Afghanistan by 170 runs in the second ODI at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, clinching the series convincingly. The match saw a commanding display from India’s batting and bowling units, leaving Afghanistan with no room for a comeback.

Batting first, India piled up a massive total of 402, putting immediate pressure on the opposition bowlers and setting up a daunting chase.

India’s innings was anchored by skipper Shubman Gill, who played a brilliant knock of 154 runs off 110 balls. His innings combined control and aggression, ensuring India maintained momentum throughout the innings.

He was well supported by Ishan Kishan, who played a blistering innings of 125 off just 79 deliveries. The duo stitched together a massive 224-run partnership, putting Afghanistan’s bowling attack under sustained pressure.

A tactical change saw Gill bat at number three, allowing Yashasvi Jaiswal to open the innings. Gill adapted seamlessly to the role and provided stability in the middle order.

India also got a quick start from Rohit Sharma, who scored 48 off 39 balls before being dismissed by a well-disguised delivery from Rashid Khan.

Chasing a target of 403, Afghanistan struggled from the outset, losing wickets at regular intervals and failing to build partnerships.

India’s bowling attack was led by Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar, both of whom claimed three wickets each and dismantled the Afghan batting lineup.

Afghanistan was eventually bowled out for 232, falling well short of the target as India maintained complete control throughout the innings.

With this emphatic victory, India sealed the ODI series and marked a memorable start to Shubman Gill’s leadership tenure as captain. His performance with the bat, combined with strong team contributions, highlighted India’s growing depth across all departments.

The win further reinforced India’s dominance in both batting and bowling, as they delivered a complete performance to secure a comprehensive series triumph.
