In a major development in the high-profile luxury car crash case in Kanpur, police have arrested Shivam Mishra, son of prominent tobacco businessman K.K. Mishra. The arrest is linked to the Lamborghini accident on VIP Road that left several people injured.
Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal confirmed that the 35-year-old accused has been taken into custody and is undergoing legal formalities. He will be presented before the court shortly, officials said.
According to police sources, the incident occurred on February 8, 2026, around 3 p.m. in the upscale Gwaltoli locality. A Lamborghini Revuelto, an Italian luxury sports car reportedly worth over ₹10 crore, allegedly went out of control and collided with pedestrians and other vehicles on the busy stretch.
Several individuals sustained injuries in the crash. Among them was 18-year-old e-rickshaw driver Mohammad Taufeeq, who later filed a formal complaint with the police.
The investigation took a dramatic turn on Wednesday when a man identified as Mohan surfaced, claiming that he was driving the car at the time of the accident. He stated that Shivam Mishra was not behind the wheel during the incident.

However, police officials dismissed the claim, asserting that evidence collected during the probe clearly indicates that Shivam Mishra was driving the vehicle when it struck pedestrians and other vehicles.
Authorities have maintained that no pressure or influence will affect the investigation and that strict legal action will be taken against those found responsible. The probe into the circumstances surrounding the crash is still underway.
The case has drawn significant public attention in Kanpur, and further legal proceedings will unfold after the accused is presented in court.
