Trump Administration Forms ‘Board of Peace’ for Gaza, Here Are the Key Members

By: The Trek News Desk

The White House has formally announced the members of the newly created “Board of Peace” set up by the Trump administration to shape Gaza’s future. The board will be chaired by the US President himself and is tasked with supervising temporary governance arrangements, ensuring stability, and overseeing post-war reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

According to the White House, the board will guide the work of a Palestinian technocratic committee that will manage day-to-day administration on the ground. Each board member is expected to oversee a critical portfolio linked to Gaza’s stabilisation, though specific responsibilities have not yet been publicly assigned.

The board brings together senior political figures, diplomats, and financial leaders. Here is a look at its key members:

Sir Tony Blair

Former British Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair is among the most prominent members of the Board of Peace. He served as the UK’s prime minister from 1997 to 2007 and remains a controversial figure due to Britain’s involvement in the 2003 Iraq War. After leaving office, Blair served as the Middle East envoy for the Quartet, comprising the United Nations, the European Union, the United States, and Russia, from 2007 to 2015. He is the only founding member of the board who is not a US citizen. Blair has described Trump’s Gaza initiative as the strongest opportunity in years to bring an end to prolonged conflict and suffering.

Marco Rubio

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio plays a central role in shaping the administration’s foreign policy. Previously, Rubio opposed calls for a ceasefire in Gaza and supported a hard-line military approach by Israel. In recent months, however, he has backed the Israel-Hamas ceasefire framework, calling it the most realistic option under current conditions. His inclusion signals the administration’s intent to keep Gaza policy closely aligned with broader US diplomatic strategy.

Steve Witkoff

Steve Witkoff, the US Special Envoy to the Middle East, is a real estate businessman and a close associate of President Trump. He recently outlined the second phase of the administration’s Gaza plan, which includes large-scale reconstruction and complete demilitarisation of the territory. Witkoff has warned that any violation of the agreed framework would invite serious consequences, underlining the administration’s tough stance on security issues.

Jared Kushner

President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, has once again emerged as a key figure in Middle East diplomacy. He has previously acted as a mediator in both the Israel-Gaza conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war. Kushner has also drawn attention for his comments on Gaza’s economic potential, particularly its long-term development and reconstruction prospects, making him a significant voice in post-war planning.

Marc Rowan

Billionaire investor Marc Rowan, CEO of Apollo Global Management, represents the financial and investment dimension of the board. He was widely considered a contender for the role of U.S. Treasury Secretary during discussions about Trump’s second term. Rowan’s presence is being viewed as a signal that private investment and global capital could play a major role in rebuilding Gaza’s economy.

Ajay Banga

World Bank President Ajay Banga brings extensive experience in global finance and development. Born in India, Banga later became a US citizen and served as CEO of Mastercard for over a decade. His expertise in economic reform and development financing is expected to be crucial in shaping long-term reconstruction and institutional recovery in Gaza.

Robert Gabriel

US National Security Adviser Robert Gabriel is a long-time Trump ally who has worked closely with the president since the 2016 election campaign. His role on the board highlights the importance the administration places on security coordination and strategic oversight.

On-the-Ground Representative: Nickolay Mladenov

The White House has named former UN Middle East envoy Nickolay Mladenov as the board’s representative in Gaza. He will oversee a 15-member Palestinian technocratic body known as the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG).

The committee will be responsible for managing Gaza’s daily governance in the post-war period and will be headed by Ali Shaath, a former deputy minister in the Palestinian Authority.
