Energy Crisis Amid Conflict: PM Modi Cuts Convoy Size, Pushes EV Adoption

By: The Trek News Desk

Amid rising global energy pressures triggered by the ongoing Iran conflict and fluctuating crude oil prices, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken steps aimed at promoting fuel conservation and cleaner mobility.

According to official sources, the Prime Minister has reduced the number of vehicles in his security convoy. The decision has been implemented while ensuring that all essential security requirements remain intact in line with the protocols of the Special Protection Group.

Reports suggest that during recent visits to Gujarat and Assam, the size of the convoy was noticeably reduced compared to earlier deployments. The changes were put into effect shortly after his address in Hyderabad. Authorities have also been instructed to prioritise the inclusion of electric vehicles (EVs) in the convoy wherever feasible, without procuring new vehicles specifically for this purpose.

In his recent public appeal on Sunday, the Prime Minister urged citizens to cut down on petrol and diesel consumption. He encouraged greater use of public transportation and advised people to avoid unnecessary fuel expenditure.

He also appealed for moderation in gold purchases for the next year, emphasising the need for collective responsibility in managing economic and energy challenges under current global conditions.

The ongoing instability linked to the Iran conflict has led to volatility in global crude oil prices, raising concerns over potential economic impact on countries, including India. The government is increasingly focusing on fuel efficiency measures and the expansion of alternative energy solutions in response to the situation.
