Britain’s monarch, King Charles III, has arrived in the United States along with Queen Camilla for a four-day official visit, marking the first such royal trip since Queen Elizabeth II visited the country in 2007.

The royal couple landed at Andrews Military Airbase in Maryland before heading to the White House, where US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump formally received them. Security measures have been significantly tightened throughout the visit following a recent shooting incident in Washington attended by the President.

King Charles is scheduled to address the US Congress on Tuesday. According to sources, his speech is expected to include remarks expressing concern over the recent attack, while stressing the importance of unity in safeguarding democratic principles during challenging global times.

Officials indicate that the King may also acknowledge existing differences between the United States and the United Kingdom, while underscoring the long-standing ability of both nations to overcome disagreements through cooperation. His address is likely to call for a renewed phase of partnership, focusing on reconciliation and stronger bilateral ties.

In addition, the monarch is expected to highlight shared values such as tolerance, freedom, and equality. He may also urge continued support for NATO and emphasise the importance of standing by Ukraine amid ongoing geopolitical challenges.

The visit comes at a time of heightened international tensions, with both nations looking to reinforce their strategic alliance and collective commitment to democratic ideals.
