In a tragic road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, at least 15 people lost their lives while several others sustained serious injuries after a passenger bus overturned on the Ramnagar-Udhampur highway.
According to initial reports, the incident took place near Kaghote along a hilly and winding stretch of the road. The bus, carrying multiple passengers, reportedly went out of the driver’s control and flipped over, leading to casualties and injuries.
Soon after the accident, police and local administration teams reached the site and immediately initiated rescue operations. Efforts were made to evacuate passengers trapped inside the overturned vehicle.
The injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Authorities also worked to remove the damaged bus from the road and restore normal traffic movement in the area.
Residents played a crucial role in the rescue efforts, assisting officials in pulling out passengers from the wreckage.
Officials stated that the exact cause of the accident and the final death toll are still being verified. An inquiry into the incident is likely to be conducted.
