Two drones crashed in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport on Wednesday, leaving four people injured, including an Indian national. The incident occurred as tensions continue to escalate across West Asia due to the ongoing regional crisis.

Dubai’s media office confirmed the development in a post on the social media platform X, stating that the drones had fallen near the airport area earlier in the day. Authorities said that despite the incident, flight operations at the airport remain unaffected and are continuing as scheduled.

Officials reported that two citizens from Ghana and one from Bangladesh suffered minor injuries, while the Indian national sustained moderate injuries. All injured individuals were taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

The incident comes amid heightened security concerns across the region linked to the ongoing crisis involving Iran. The tensions have significantly disrupted global aviation, with airlines around the world cancelling, delaying, or rerouting flights.

Rising hostilities involving the United States and Israel have led several countries to temporarily close parts of their airspace. Concerns over missile and drone attacks have also affected aviation operations in several West Asian nations, including Qatar.

The regional instability has not only impacted air travel but has also contributed to an energy market shock, pushing fuel prices higher worldwide.

Major UAE-based carriers such as Emirates and Etihad Airways have gradually resumed some flights since the crisis began on February 28. However, both airlines are still operating below their full capacity due to ongoing security concerns.

Dubai International Airport remains the world’s busiest airport for international passengers. In the past year alone, the airport handled close to 100 million travellers, underscoring its crucial role in global aviation.
