Tensions in the Middle East appear to be intensifying as Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, has cautioned Iran to act responsibly and avoid any “miscalculation” following recent attacks.

On Saturday, after meeting Pakistan’s military chief, Prince Khalid shared a message on the social media platform X stating that the discussion focused on the recent missile and drone attacks launched against Saudi Arabia. The two sides also talked about possible measures that could help prevent such incidents in the future.

According to the Saudi defence minister, these kinds of military actions pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability. He expressed hope that Iran would recognise the seriousness of the situation and respond with restraint rather than escalating tensions further.

Meanwhile, reports of explosions have added to the growing concern across the Gulf region. On Saturday, loud blasts were reportedly heard in Dubai as well as in Manama, the capital of Bahrain. Witness accounts suggested that two explosions were heard in Dubai, while another blast was reported in Manama.

Following the incident in Manama, warning sirens were sounded, and Bahrain’s Interior Ministry issued a social media message urging citizens and residents to remain calm and move to the nearest safe locations.

Around the same time, an explosion was also reported in Jerusalem after air raid sirens warned of an incoming missile. The Israeli military later confirmed that its air defence systems had been activated to intercept a potential threat.

Shortly afterwards, authorities declared the situation under control and issued an “all-clear” notice.

Security analysts believe that the latest developments highlight the fragile situation across the Gulf and the wider Middle East. If diplomatic efforts fail to reduce tensions between the parties involved, the current standoff could have broader implications for regional stability.
