Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated development projects worth approximately ₹12,930 crore in Meerut on Sunday, 22 February 2026, highlighting the BJP’s focus on the timely completion of infrastructure once a project’s foundation is laid.

Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, PM Modi said improved law and order and safer travel had strengthened local confidence, benefiting both residents and investors.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister criticised Congress for its protest at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. He said, “Congress turned a global platform into an arena for its ‘dirty and shameless’ politics.” He questioned Congress leaders, “The nation already knows your true face, so why expose yourselves further? This reckless and unrestrained leadership of Congress is intent on destroying the country.”

PM Modi added, “Today, developed nations are eager to connect with India because they see their future in India’s development. The world views India as a power capable of addressing the challenges of the 21st century.”

The Prime Minister contrasted the current BJP-led government with the previous Congress administration, stating that earlier, India struggled to finalise agreements with developed nations. He said, “The BJP prioritises the country’s development and the prosperity of its citizens.” Modi also criticised the Congress-SP rule for infrastructure scams that slowed the nation’s progress.

Highlighting transport achievements, he noted that metro services now operate in more than 25 cities, compared to just five during Congress rule.

PM Modi also emphasised his personal connection with Meerut, noting that he began his election campaigns for the 2014, 2019, and 2024 Lok Sabha polls from the city, underlining the region’s symbolic importance in his political journey.
