The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday formally announced Nitin Nabin as its new national president during a ceremony held at the party headquarters in the national capital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former BJP president J.P. Nadda, and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari were present at the event and extended their greetings to the newly appointed party chief.
The declaration was made by K. Laxman, the returning officer for the BJP’s organisational elections, who officially announced the results and handed over the election certificate to Nabin. At 45, he has become the youngest leader to assume the top post in the party’s history.
A five-time legislator from Bihar, Nitin Nabin, was elected unopposed as the BJP’s national president on Monday. He was the sole contender for the position, with 37 nomination proposals submitted in his support during the nomination process at the party headquarters. All nominations were found valid after scrutiny.
Nabin had earlier been appointed as the BJP’s national working president on December 14, following an extensive selection process that lasted nearly a year and a half. His elevation to that role was widely viewed as a clear indication of the party leadership’s choice for the top organisational position.
With this appointment, Nitin Nabin becomes the 12th national president of the BJP. Notably, the party was founded in 1980, the same year Nabin was born, adding symbolic significance to his elevation.
Addressing party leaders and workers at the ceremony, J.P. Nadda described the occasion as historic. He praised Nabin as a young, dynamic and capable leader and congratulated him on assuming leadership of what he termed the world’s largest political party, conveying best wishes on behalf of millions of BJP workers across the country.
