A horrifying road accident shook the Pink City on Monday morning when a speeding dumper truck went out of control on the Sikar Road, crushing everything in its path for nearly half a kilometre. At least seven people lost their lives, and several others sustained critical injuries in what locals are calling one of the deadliest road mishaps in recent years.

How the Tragedy Unfolded

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred near Harmada when the dumper, loaded with construction material, was speeding from Loha Mandi toward Sikar Road. The driver was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and was driving at over 100 km/h.

Within moments, the truck rammed into several cars, motorcycles, and pedestrians, leaving behind a trail of devastation. The rampage ended only when the dumper collided with a car, toppling over and crushing it completely. Police officials said five people trapped inside the car are feared dead. Rescue teams used cranes to lift the vehicle and recover the bodies.

Chaos at the Scene, Highway Brought to a Halt

Police and rescue teams from Harmada Police Station rushed to the scene soon after receiving the alert. Emergency responders and fire department personnel launched a massive relief operation. Eyewitnesses described a terrifying scene with mangled vehicles, scattered debris, and the cries of the injured echoing across the highway.

The accident caused a massive traffic jam on Sikar Road, bringing movement to a standstill for several kilometres.

Green Corridor Created to Rush Victims to Hospitals

Acting swiftly, the district administration and Jaipur Police created a Green Corridor to ensure ambulances could move freely. The injured were transported to Sawai Man Singh Hospital and other nearby private and government hospitals. Doctors confirmed that several victims remain in critical condition.

Driver on the Run, Police Launch Investigation

Officials confirmed that the dumper driver fled the spot immediately after the crash. Preliminary investigation suggests that the accident was caused by over speeding and possible brake failure, compounded by reckless driving.

A case has been registered under multiple sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, and police teams are tracing the truck owner and the absconding driver.
