US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning amid escalating protests in Iran, stating that the United States would step in if Iranian security forces open fire on or kill peaceful demonstrators. The warning was delivered through a post on Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social.
In his message, Trump said that if peaceful protesters in Iran are subjected to violent repression, the US would come to their aid. He added that America is “locked and loaded,” signalling readiness to act if the situation worsens.
The statement comes as protests continue across several Iranian provinces, driven by soaring inflation, a sharp decline in the national currency, and rising prices of essential goods. According to local media reports, at least seven people have lost their lives during clashes linked to the unrest. The casualties reportedly include a volunteer member of Iran’s security forces as well as several civilians.
Reports indicate that one security force volunteer was killed during protests in the western city of Kouhdasht. In other parts of the country, confrontations between demonstrators and security personnel have also been reported. The unrest intensified after shopkeepers began protesting against the government’s economic policies and the ongoing currency crisis.

Iran’s economy has remained under severe strain for years, particularly since 2018, when the United States, under Trump’s first term, withdrew from the international nuclear agreement and reimposed strict economic sanctions.
While the current demonstrations are described as smaller than the massive protests of 2022, they reflect growing public frustration. The 2022 unrest erupted after the death of Mahsa Amini in custody, sparking nationwide outrage and resulting in hundreds of deaths.
At present, tensions remain high in Iran, with the international community closely monitoring developments on the ground.
