At least two people lost their lives, and several others sustained injuries after a three-storey building collapsed late Saturday night in the Talwandi area of Rajasthan’s Kota city. Authorities fear that some individuals may still be trapped under the debris.

Officials said the building housed a restaurant that was operational at the time of the incident. Customers and staff were present inside when the structure suddenly gave way, leading to chaos and panic in the area.

Following the collapse, police, local administration, and disaster response teams immediately rushed to the spot and initiated rescue and relief operations. Injured persons were quickly shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Madan Dilawar termed the incident serious and confirmed that two deaths have been reported so far. He stated that nine injured people were admitted to hospitals, out of which four are currently undergoing treatment. Others have either been shifted to private healthcare facilities or discharged after receiving first aid. The minister added that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collapse.

Local MLA Sandeep Sharma, who arrived at the site soon after the incident, stated that the building collapsed without warning. He expressed concern that more people could still be buried beneath the rubble, although rescue teams have already managed to save several individuals.

District Collector Piyush Samaria said that rescue efforts began immediately after information about the collapse was received. “So far, five people have been rescued and taken to hospitals. At present, it is difficult to ascertain how many people may still be trapped inside,” he said.

The administration has sealed off the surrounding area as a safety measure. Heavy machinery has been deployed to remove debris, and rescue operations are continuing under close supervision.
