The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the submission deadline for voter enumeration forms under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The extension applies to six states and one Union Territory, following requests made by the respective Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs).
States and UTs Granted an Extension
The extended deadline covers Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Initially, the enumeration process for 11 states and three Union Territories was set to conclude on Thursday, December 11. Kerala had already been granted an exception with a revised deadline of December 18.
Revised Schedule Announced by the ECI
The new timeline issued by the Election Commission is as follows:
- Tamil Nadu & Gujarat
- New last date for submission: December 14, 2025
- Draft electoral roll publication: December 19, 2025
- Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh & Andaman & Nicobar Islands

- (This is the longest extension granted among all.)
No Change for Other States
For Goa, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, and West Bengal, the enumeration process still concludes on December 11. Their draft electoral rolls will be published on December 16, 2025, as originally scheduled.
EC Urges New Voters to Enrol
To ensure that no eligible citizen is left out, the Election Commission is encouraging new voters to submit Form 6 for inclusion in the electoral rolls. Voters can submit the form through:
- Their Booth Level Officer (BLO)
- Online via the ECINet app/website
The final electoral rolls for all regions will be published in February 2026.
Background of the Special Intensive Revision
The SIR exercise was initially announced on October 27 for nine states and three Union Territories. The original schedule included:
- Last date for form submission: December 4, 2025
- Draft roll publication: December 9, 2025
On November 30, the Commission extended these deadlines by one week. With the latest adjustments, the timeline has now been further updated based on state-level requests.
