Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved a historic digital milestone by surpassing 100 million followers on Instagram. With this achievement, he has become the first serving head of government and political leader in the world to reach the 100-million mark on the platform.

According to officials, PM Modi joined Instagram in 2014 and has since transformed his account into a powerful tool for public engagement and global outreach. Over the past decade, his profile has evolved into one of the most dynamic and widely followed digital platforms among international leaders.

In terms of Instagram following, U.S. President Donald Trump currently holds the second position with 43.2 million followers, less than half of PM Modi’s total.

Other prominent global leaders on the list include Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto with 15 million followers; Brazilian President Lula da Silva, with 14.4 million; Turkish President Erdogan, with 11.6 million; and Argentine President Javier Milei, with 6.4 million followers.

Officials further noted that the combined follower count of these five major leaders still falls short of PM Modi’s individual total on Instagram.

Within India as well, PM Modi maintains a commanding lead over other political figures on Instagram. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ranks second nationally with approximately 16.1 million followers. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stands third with around 12.6 million followers.

Digital communication experts attribute PM Modi’s social media dominance to his consistent engagement strategy, visually compelling posts, and direct outreach to both domestic and international audiences.
