Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has apologised for recent strikes carried out against neighbouring countries and announced that Tehran has decided to suspend such attacks for the time being.

In a statement on Saturday, President Pezeshkian said the country’s temporary leadership council had approved a decision to halt military actions targeting nearby nations. He clarified that Iran would maintain this pause unless any of those countries launched attacks against Iranian territory.

The Iranian leader also expressed regret over the recent strikes in the region, explaining that the incidents were the result of a misunderstanding within military command structures. He assured that Iran intends to avoid similar situations in the future.

His remarks came at a time when tensions remain high in the region, with Iran continuing retaliatory actions following airstrikes conducted by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets. Reports earlier on Saturday indicated renewed attacks across parts of the Gulf, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

President Pezeshkian also dismissed Washington’s demand that Iran agree to an unconditional surrender. In a prerecorded message broadcast on state television, he described the demand as unrealistic and said it was a “dream” that the United States should abandon.

Meanwhile, military pressure on Iran appears to be increasing. The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has approved a new arms package for Israel worth $151 million, further intensifying the strategic environment in the region.

U.S. officials have also warned that a larger bombing campaign against Iranian targets could be launched soon, potentially becoming the most intense phase of the conflict so far.

At the United Nations, Iran’s ambassador stated that the country would take every necessary step to defend itself. Analysts warn that unless tensions ease, the ongoing confrontation could escalate further and pose a significant threat to stability across the Middle East.
