Narendra Modi on Monday (February 16, 2026) asserted that India is at the forefront of the global artificial intelligence (AI) revolution, emphasising that the country’s rapid strides in the sector reflect both ambition and responsibility.
The Prime Minister made these remarks while inaugurating the India AI Impact Expo 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital. The Expo is being held from February 16 to 20 alongside the India AI Impact Summit, which has drawn participation from global leaders, industry captains, policymakers, researchers, and technology innovators.
In a message shared on the social media platform X, PM Modi highlighted India’s effort to bring the international community together to deliberate on the transformative potential of AI. He extended a warm welcome to delegates from across the world attending the summit.
The theme of the summit, “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya” (welfare for all, happiness for all), underscores India’s vision of leveraging artificial intelligence for inclusive and human-centric development. The Prime Minister noted that AI is already reshaping key sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, governance, and enterprise.
He expressed confidence that the summit would deepen global dialogue on innovation, collaboration, and the responsible deployment of AI technologies. According to him, the deliberations and outcomes of the event are expected to help chart a progressive, innovation-driven, and opportunity-rich future.
A day earlier, on February 15, PM Modi reiterated India’s ambition to emerge as a global hub for digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence. Referring to incentives announced in the Union Budget, he stated that policy measures aimed at boosting investment in data infrastructure would reduce operational costs and strengthen India’s competitiveness on the global stage.
Highlighting the strength of India’s 1.4 billion citizens, robust digital public infrastructure, thriving startup ecosystem, and cutting-edge research capabilities, the Prime Minister said the country is well-positioned to lead the next wave of technological transformation. He also invited the global community to view India as a trusted destination for hosting the world’s data and driving the future of AI innovation.
