Team India delivered a commanding performance on Thursday, bowling out Australia for just 119 in the fourth T20 International and securing a 48-run victory, taking a 2-1 lead in the series.
After being sent in to bat, India posted a competitive 167/8, but the Australian bowling attack, led by Adam Zampa, kept the innings in check. In response, the hosts struggled from the start, collapsing under India’s disciplined bowling attack.
Axar Patel and Washington Sundar Steal the Show
All-rounder Axar Patel turned the game with a brilliant performance, contributing 21 runs off 11 balls* and then wreaking havoc with the ball. He first trapped Matthew Short (25) LBW after convincing captain Suryakumar Yadav to take a review before removing Josh Inglis (12), breaking the Australian top-order momentum.
Shivam Dube then struck crucial blows, dismissing captain Mitch Marsh (30) and hard-hitting Tim David (14). Arshdeep Singh further tightened the screws by sending back Josh Philippe (10), clearing the path for India. Finally, Washington Sundar delivered a fiery spell, claiming three wickets and leaving Australia’s lower order helpless.

India’s Batting: Strong Start, Missed Acceleration
Earlier, India started brightly with a 56-run opening partnership, but the dismissal of Abhishek Sharma slowed the momentum. Shubman Gill contributed 46 runs off 39 balls (SR 117.95), but his steady approach prevented India from posting a 180+ total.
The middle order struggled, losing Shivam Dube and Suryakumar Yadav in quick succession. Meanwhile, Adam Zampa provided resistance for Australia, taking three wickets while conceding 45 runs. Axar Patel’s late cameo gave India a small boost, helping them reach a defendable 167.
India Take Control of the Series
This comprehensive win not only boosts India’s confidence but also shifts the series momentum firmly in their favour. With a 2-1 lead, India is now in a strong position, while Australia will need a win in the next match to level the series.
