A tragic incident unfolded at the Dubai Air Show on Friday afternoon when an Indian Air Force Tejas fighter jet crashed during an aerial display. The aircraft went down around 2:10 pm local time, sending shockwaves across the venue as spectators watched in disbelief. The Indian Air Force has confirmed that the pilot did not survive the crash.
Witnesses reported seeing thick black smoke rising from the crash site near the Dubai airport. Families, including children who had gathered to watch the show, were seen scrambling for safety as emergency alarms sounded across the venue.
Rescue and firefighting teams arrived at the scene within minutes and began securing the area.
IAF Issues Statement
In an official release, the Indian Air Force expressed deep grief and said a Court of Inquiry has been initiated.
An IAF Tejas aircraft was involved in an accident during an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show today. The pilot sustained fatal injuries. The IAF deeply regrets the loss of life and stands with the bereaved family. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident, an Air Force spokesperson said.
UAE Government Responds
Authorities in the UAE confirmed that emergency and firefighting teams responded swiftly and are continuing to manage the situation on-site.
Security perimeters were immediately strengthened to prevent further risk.
