Tragic news has emerged from Los Angeles as renowned director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead inside their home. Early reports indicate both suffered stab wounds.
Sources close to the family told the media that injuries on both bodies point to a violent attack. Authorities have reportedly begun questioning a family member as part of the ongoing investigation.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, 78-year-old Rob Reiner and 68-year-old Michele Reiner were discovered deceased on the property. Rob had recently celebrated his 78th birthday in March.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Robbery-Homicide Division has taken over the case. LAPD Captain Mike Bland confirmed it is being treated as an “apparent homicide,” and a significant police presence was observed at the scene.

Former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called Reiner “creative, funny, and beloved,” highlighting Michele as his “indispensable partner and intellectual companion.” Actress Kathy Bates shared her grief, saying, “I am horrified and heartbroken. Rob was brilliant, kind, and a fearless advocate for his beliefs. Michele was a gifted photographer whose work I admired.”
Rob and Michele Reiner were married in 1989 after meeting during the filming of When Harry Met Sally and had three children together. Michele was known for her photography work, including the cover photo for Donald Trump’s book Trump: The Art of The Deal.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding their deaths, with official confirmation of the cause pending.
