Fire Breaks Out in Two Coaches of Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express in Andhra Pradesh

A potential major disaster was narrowly avoided after a fire broke out in two coaches of the Tatanagar–Ernakulam Junction Superfast Express in the early hours of Monday near Yelamanchili Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalli district.

Railway authorities confirmed that the incident involved Train No. 18189, in which coaches B-1 and M-2 caught fire at around 1:11 a.m. While the blaze caused extensive damage to both coaches, officials stated that there were no reports of injuries or loss of life in the initial assessment.

According to South Central Railway officials, railway staff detected the fire promptly and immediately informed the local fire department. Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot and managed to bring the flames under control after sustained firefighting efforts.

Senior railway officials reached the site soon after the incident and are closely supervising the situation. As a precautionary measure, the affected coaches were detached from the train to ensure passenger safety and prevent further risk.

A senior official present at the scene said the fire was intense, and a detailed inquiry has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the incident. The railway administration is also reviewing all safety protocols to ensure that passengers are not exposed to any danger.

Railway authorities have stated that a comprehensive report will be released after the completion of the investigation, which will include details regarding the cause of the fire and the extent of damage caused.
