Bihar Assembly Elections Phase 1: 60.18% Voter Turnout, Begusarai Leads Polling

The first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections concluded on Thursday with voters across the state enthusiastically exercising their franchise. According to data released by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar, a total voter turnout of 60.18% was recorded by 5 PM.

District-wise Turnout Highlights

Among the districts, Begusarai topped the charts with 67.32% turnout, reflecting strong voter enthusiasm. In contrast, the state capital Patna recorded a relatively slower pace, with 55.02% of registered voters casting their ballots.

Phase 1 Covers 18 Districts, 121 Assembly Seats

In this first phase, polling was conducted across 18 districts, covering 121 assembly constituencies. Early morning saw long queues at many polling stations, particularly in rural areas, while some urban pockets witnessed slower voter turnout in the initial hours.

The results of this phase are expected to set the tone for subsequent phases and could influence the momentum for various political parties in the remaining stages of the elections. Bihar’s electorate is now playing a crucial role in deciding the political direction for the next five years.
