In a major operation against cross-border terrorism, a wanted terrorist affiliated with the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), Parminder Singh alias Pindi, has been successfully extradited from Abu Dhabi, UAE, to India.

He was taken into custody by the Punjab Police after completing the necessary legal formalities.

According to Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, this extradition was the result of close coordination between Punjab Police, central intelligence agencies, the Ministry of External Affairs, and authorities in the United Arab Emirates.

DGP Yadav hailed the move as a demonstration of Punjab’s zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism and organized crime.

Parminder Singh is accused of involvement in a series of serious criminal acts, including petrol bomb attacks, violent assaults, and extortion, especially in the Batala-Gurdaspur region of Punjab. He is also believed to be a close aide of Harwinder Singh alias Rinda and Happy Passia, both foreign-based Khalistani operatives.

Extradition Based on Interpol Red Corner Notice

The extradition followed the issuance of a Red Corner Notice (RCN) by Interpol at the request of Batala Police. A four-member special team from Punjab, led by a senior officer, departed for Abu Dhabi on September 24, where it worked in tandem with the Ministry of External Affairs and UAE authorities to complete the repatriation process.

“This successful operation is a reflection of Punjab Police’s growing international reach and enhanced investigative capabilities,” said DGP Yadav. “We are grateful for the cooperation extended by the Government of India, MEA, and the UAE authorities. It sends a strong message that those who threaten national security will be brought to justice, no matter where they hide.”

What is a Red Corner Notice?

A Red Corner Notice is an international alert issued by Interpol upon request from a member country, in this case, India, seeking the location and provisional arrest of individuals wanted for serious crimes, including terrorism, pending extradition proceedings.

Cracking Down on Khalistani Terror Network

Multiple individuals linked to Khalistani terror outfits such as Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), and Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) are currently under the radar of Indian agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Several of them have active Red Corner Notices issued against them for involvement in targeted killings, terrorist financing, and attacks in Punjab.

Strengthening National Security

Authorities believe that the capture and extradition of Parminder Singh will aid ongoing investigations and help dismantle Khalistani terror networks operating across borders. This development also reinforces India’s position as a nation actively countering terrorism on the global stage.

The accused will now face prosecution under relevant anti-terror laws in India. Further interrogation is expected to reveal more insights into the operations and funding channels of Khalistani groups.
