Prateek Yadav, Son of Mulayam Singh Yadav, Dies in Lucknow at 38

Prateek Yadav, the younger son of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and founder of the Samajwadi Party, passed away on Wednesday (May 13, 2026) morning. He was 38.

According to hospital sources, Prateek Yadav was brought to Lucknow’s Civil Hospital after his health deteriorated. Doctors declared him dead on arrival. He is believed to have already been deceased before reaching the hospital, although the official cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

Prateek Yadav was the stepbrother of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. He was also the husband of BJP leader and Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission Vice Chairperson Aparna Bisht Yadav.

The news of his sudden demise triggered widespread condolences across political circles. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the loss, calling it deeply saddening in a post on the social media platform X.

In his message, the Chief Minister conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength for the family to endure the loss.

Authorities have stated that the exact cause of death is still under investigation, and further details are awaited from medical and police officials.
